Natco Foods Ltd is committed to a best practice system of Total Quality Management.
We ensure that all food products are produced and packed under exacting standards of hygiene and the process complies in all respects with industry standards, codes of practice and to legal requirements. To this end, the company operates a Total Quality Management System based upon HACCP principles.

Natco Foods Ltd has achieved Grade A BRC (British Retail Consortium) accreditation, putting it in an elite group of food processors positioned to service own-label clients. Natco Ingredients, a division of Natco Foods is ISO22000 accredited and is approved by the 'Soil Association' for the supply and manufacture of Organic products.

Rigorous in house testing in our own laboratory is carried out and where necessary external chemical and microbiological analysis tests ensure a quality product.

Quality by Intent not Happenstance

At Natco we cherish Trust as well as Taste. Our customers put their trust in us to deliver a product that they can confidently serve to their families. For this reason it is of prime importance to us that we work directly with well respected processors that have earned our trust and have earned their reputation for quality. The collaboration between our procurement team here in Buckingham and the quality assurance teams who vet our suppliers from around the world, ensures that goods entering our facility have already been screened. Even so, when the goods arrive, our own technical team swoops in to verify that our high-standards have been met. Further to the tests performed by our technicians on-site, samples are also sent out to independent laboratories for further microbiological analysis.

Steam Sterilisation

Embedded within Natco’s plant is a tardis of a Steam Sterilisation chamber. This magnificent marvel takes in the whole gamut of peppers, spices, cinnamon bark and much more eradicating whatever shouldn’t be there whilst preserving the pungency, the flavour and the nutrients as nature intended.

Steam sterilization is on the leading edge innovation inspired by medical sterilization technology.

Key uses:

  • To pasteurize a product that has become contaminated with pathogens such as Salmonella or E-Coli.
  • To ensure that microbiological activity is very low. Clients seek the guarantee of low micro provided by a steam treated ingredient before incorporating into it into food blends, or packing for retail distribution.

How it works

The process is in four stages:

  • Stage 1: Removal of air from the chamber and a vacuum created.
  • Stage 2: The vacuum is replaced by pharmaceutically clean steam.
  • Stage 3: Treatment time varies depending on the density of the product.
  • Stage 4: Drying phase in a vacuum.
  • Stage 5: Treated goods are left to cool and packed.
